Frequently Asked Questions - Guided Fishing

When is the best time to fish for yellow perch?

May and June are my favorite months to catch perch on Lake Cascade. During May, the water is still cold and the perch are usually hitting casting baits like blade baits and small jigs and plastics. Fishing for perch stays consistent until the end of June. I usually start targeting perch again the last week in August. The fishing stays consistently good until the end of October. A great day is 15-30 perch in the live well 10-14 inches.

What else do I need to bring on a fishing trip?

Everyone 14 years and older are required to have an Idaho Fishing License, which can be purchased online at idfg.idaho.gov. It’s also a great idea to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and whatever additional snacks or beverages you would like. There is a cooler on the boat to put your beverages in, so no need to bring an additional cooler fishing. You can bring a cooler to transport your fish home. We provide a lunch and water. All fishing tackle and bait is also provided.

What can we catch in July and August?

July and August trips usually are a mixed bag of rainbow trout, small mouth bass and the occasional perch. We often will chase whatever is biting on that particular day, and the trips are usually more laid back during these months. This is a great time to bring the family and spend the day on the water enjoying the beautiful Idaho summer weather.

What type of boat will we be fishing out of?

We fish out of a 21 ft Lund Pro-guide 2075, with a 150 Hp motor. The boat is equipped with top-of-the-line Garmin Livescope electronics. The boat can fish up to 4 clients comfortably.

Is tipping the guide acceptable or expected?

Tips are always appreciated. We recommend a 20% tip, but obviously what you choose to give is up to you.
