Tamarack Summer Camp is a midweek camp designed to inspire campers and teach them about the surrounding outdoors. Each week of camp focuses on a different aspect of outdoor based education ranging from astrology to history with correlating activities. Tamarack Summer Camp runs Monday – Thursday starting on June 5 and ending on August 7. The camp runs from 9AM – 3PM with planned daily activities and Marina activities available as an add-on. Each week at Tamarack Summer Camp we will be focusing on a different aspect of outdoor based education with matching activities. Each week is designed to get your kids outside, learn about their surrounding environment, explore new activities, create a new community, and more!
Week One: The Journey Begins
Introduction to Tamarack Resort and the surrounding area. Learn about the basics of exploration including map reading, navigation and teamwork.
Week Two: Explore The Forest
Explore nature’s wonders with expeditions into the forests of Tamarack Resort. Explore and learn about different ecosystems, the water cycle, the importance of conservation and more!
Week Three: The Secret Waters
Explore Valley County’s lakes and rivers to discover the hidden world of aquatic ecosystems. Learn how water supports life and affects the local environment. This week’s activity includes a whitewater rafting trip with Tamarack Resort’s guides on the Payette River!
Week Four: The Sky Above
Discover weather and astronomy in the skies. Learn about weather patterns, constellations, and the science of the atmosphere. Discover how the weather shapes the local area.
Week Five: The Mountain Peaks
Explore the high altitude peaks of Tamarack Resort. Learn about high-altitude ecosystems, geology, and mountain formation. This weeks activity is hiking!
Week Six: Valley County’s Ancient History
Discover the past, campers will travel back in time to discover the rich history of Valley County’s land. They will learn about early explorers, indigenous cultures, and how the land has changed over time.
Week Seven: The Expeditions Science
Discover the wonders of nature, campers will take a deep dive into the scientific process and learn about nature’s mysteries. Explore biology, chemistry, and physics in the context of Tamarack Resort’s surroundings.
Week Eight: Artful Expeditions
Creating in nature campers will focus on fostering creativity and imagination through arts, craaft, and design inspired by the natural environment of Valley County.
Week Nine: Survival Quest
Learn to thrive in the wild! Campers will learn how to be safe wilderness explorers by learning vital survival skills needed to thrive in the wild. Learn about everything from building shelters like early pioneers to finding your way through the forest.
