Resort Operations Set to Begin on Friday, December 11

DONNELLY, ID (December 9, 2015) – With less than 48 hours until Tamarack Resort’s Opening Day, the final countdown has begun for Friday, December 11. In the past few days, Tamarack received a staggering 24 inches of snow. The resort’s snowmaking team has been taking advantage of the favorable weather conditions at every opportunity for nearly a month and this week’s natural snowfall further supplemented the ski area’s conditions.

“Conditions are even better than we initially projected and with more snow in the forecast, we’re in good shape for an amazing opening. At this point, we’re anticipating opening all terrain on the upper portion of the mountain and our beginner and intermediate terrain on the lower part of the mountain” said Mike Lancaster, Director of Mountain Operations. He continues, “In total, we expect about 70% of our terrain to be open on Friday, making this the most terrain ever offered on an opening day at the resort.”

For guests who are not quite experienced enough for the more challenging trails at the summit, the resort will also run the Tamarack Express chairlift to mid-mountain. Two of Tamarack’s most popular runs, Showtime and Waltz, which is Tamarack’s longest green trail, should be open and groomed from mid-mountain to the base area.

The resort will also have a few dining options available on Friday, December 11. Hot Shots Café will open at 8 A.M., serving a menu of pastries, fresh fruit and assorted coffees. Seven Devils Pub will open at 3:30 P.M. and serve a variety of gastro-pub style menu items, along with a large selection of Idaho craft brews.

Lifts start turning for the public at 9 A.M. on Friday, December 11. From that point on, the resort will be open 7 days a week from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. throughout the 2015-16 winter season. For more information on Tamarack Resort’s Opening Day, please visit
