This winter you’ll hear our company say “Make Your Mark”. It’s more than a campaign hook. It’s a rally cry for doing what’s right, regardless of how small. This season we intend to Make Our Mark on people and our small corner of the planet. First, we’ll be hosting the Idaho Learn to Ski Day and creating the Gateway to Tamarack program to help more Idahoans learn the sports of skiing and snowboarding. Then, we’ll be treading lighter on Mother Earth by reducing glass and single-use plastic across our base area.
Sure, these are small steps, but our company, employees and guests will be making a positive impact in Idaho. Come along with us. You’ve invited to buck the status quo and Make Your Mark.
Bye Bye Plastic
A place this beautiful deserves stewardship. As much as we love Tamarack, we are people who consume and create waste. Unfortunately, our location has limited opportunities to recycle plastic, and even fewer opportunities to recycle glass – two of our largest waste products. This winter we will be working to reduce glass and eliminate single-use plastic from our base area. Various glass and plastic bottles will be replaced with infinitely-recyclable aluminum. Plastic silverware will be replaced with metal. And, where we can’t completely cut the cord with plastic, we’ll be using plant-based plastics that decompose within months, not millennia.
In this video, the General Manager, Brad Larsen discusses the waste reduction measures and the Make Your Mark initiative.
Learn To Ski & Ride Idaho
We love winter and water in its frozen form. Sadly, our subculture of skiers and snowboarders is all too small. Only about 3% of the US and 7% of Idahoans ski or snowboard. That’s a shame, so let’s change that.
To help break down the barriers of entering our sports, we’ll be hosting the Idaho Learn to Ski Day on Sunday, December 16. We’ll be offering a ticket, rental and lesson to guest ages 13 or older who have never been fortunate enough to give winter sports a shot.
Do you already ski or ride? Then this is your chance to invite a friend into winter sports with no strings attached.
In this video, our Director of Base Operations, Wolfe Ashcraft explains the program plus you can get complete details and register here.
Gateway To Tamarack
Winter sports are good for us. Study after study shows that being outside improves mental health, self-esteem and overall physical well-being. As a company and as winter enthusiasts, we feel a moral obligation to help people enter our sports.
We’ll be bringing our team to Idaho’s largest population center. On select dates, we’ll be offering free tickets and lessons at Gateway Park in Eagle for guests ages 13 or older interested in learning to ski or snowboard. Plus, our friends at Play It Again Sports Boise are throwing in complimentary rentasl for any participant. Our instructors will give coaching on the basics to any participant and then offer an opportunity to continue their progress at Tamarack.
Our Assistant Ski School Director, Jake Bolin, describes the program and you can get complete details and sign up for the program here.
The Idaho Learn to Ski Day is a small step, but it’s moving down the right path… and one more way we are Making Our Mark.
